8 Limbs of Yoga
The eight limbs of yoga consist of:

Yamas: Rules that destroy our lower nature (e.g. non-violence, truthfulness).

Niyamas: Rules or disciplines that improve our individual nature (e.g. cleanliness, self-study).

Asanas: Postures that help us control the body.

Pranayama: A technique for controlling the breath (or life energy).

Pratyahara: Withdrawal of the senses.

Dharana: Concentration.

Dhyana: Meditation.
-
Samadhi: Enlightenment or union with the Universal Consciousness (or God).
Yoga promotes the holistic development of the human being and harnesses one’s full potential to achieve one’s highest goals in various spheres of life. Yoga increases one’s physical fitness, emotional balance and intellectual abilities.
